American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE) Portal
developed for American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE)
In mid-2008, this Client (ASNE) came to AppTheory with a portal (http://my.hsj.org) built in an older version of DotNetNuke.
The Client’s business offers free website hosting and tools to high school, middle school and elementary school newspapers, so student newspapers can easily have an online home.
At the time of Client acquisition, the customer was experiencing severe performance issues with the site and had a number of new functionality requests. The site at that point hosted around 800 or more school newspaper sites and content on this one portal install of DNN.
AppTheory upgraded the core DNN version and worked to optimize the SQL database operations and vastly improved performance. Additionally, since coming on board as a client, AppTheory has implemented vast functionality improvements such as adding video capability, student blogs, social media tie-ins and sharing, SEO, custom skins to allow users to personalize their sites, and more.
These ongoing enhancements have increased visibility to the organization’s efforts, increased visits to the sites, and their network of school news sites has expanded to over 3,750 on one install.
In this project, I acted as Account Lead, Project Manager, and Consultant helping to gather requirements.
