Update on Life
Looking back through the posts I’ve shared on here, it seems that change, loss and regeneration have been underlying topics floating through a lot of the messages on my blog. Whether its a new app or piece of technology, or a life event… I am finding that Change is often the factor that leads me back to this forum to share with you.
About a year and a half ago, I lost my mom to a 17+ year battle with cancer. My big recent change involves another saddening loss… the loss of my dog, and long-time companion, Colby.
Folks who know me, probably knew Colby as well. There was a time (in college) when she rarely left my side. We traveled on road trips between Auburn and Athens, GA frequently to visit our friends up there. She was pushing 18 years old and was a great and loyal companion over the years. She will be missed dearly. Here’s a Facebook album of pics of her over the years, and the video below is a clip of her resting place. I decided to take her back “home” to Chewacla State Park in Auburn, AL. It’s a beautiful place I look forward to returning to more often to visit her.
In other news, things are going great with Adria & I. We are setting in nicely to the new home, and loving it. I’ve got an ever-expanding “honey-do” list of things to do around the house. To keep this loosely tech related, I’ve been using the “Task This” app to keep track of everything. Another handy little app is the iHandy Level to keep things straight (literally).
Our wedding plans are coming along. We’ve announced our date (save the dates going out soon) and have some registry info over on our wedding site.
Life at Deposco is going well. The company is in a growth period, with new customer acquisitions, as well as expansion in staff. My role continues to challenge me and present new opportunities. I will be traveling a bit in the coming weeks as I head out to strengthen our customer relationships, and meet some of the users and buyers of our services. I’ll be documenting all of this with videos and more over on our blog.
Stay tuned, and remember to embrace change… it’s what helps us grow!

With just a day left in the year, don’t downplay the opportunity to donate to your favorite charity or social cause this year. It’s a great tax write off and the non-profits can more than use the support in these times, so do your part!
If you are in Georgia and looking for a great local organization, try checking your local hospice agencies. Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, Ga is an amazing resource for families dealing with terminal cancer patients in their lives. Visit their website for more info www.abbeyhospice.com
Knock, Knock…
Earlier this week Apple approved the first live streaming video app for the iPhone. Pointy Heads Software’s Knocking Live Video app is now available in the App Store and basically it allows iPhone-to-iPhone users to share and stream video between each other’s handsets.
I personally downloaded it right away and found it to be quite buggy at first. Initially when I downloaded it, every time I launched the app it would just hang at the initialization screen. I uninstalled it & tried again several time to no avail, so I just left it on my phone. The next day I launched the app and got as far as to set up an account and search for / add some friends, but when a buddy and I tried to get it to connect, nothing happened. Today I went back in and allowed “notifications” from the app and we immediately were able to “knock” and connect to one another. I never saw anything in the notes / reviews that you needed to do so, but maybe you need to allow those notifications for it to work.
At any rate, the video stream shows a little latency but it is still pretty cool. Currently there is no audio support for it, and it’s only a one-way connection, so even if the iPhone had a camera on the “business” side of the phone, you still wouldn’t be able to use it for a video conference. All said, it’s a neat little app that will surely pave the way for much greater things to come. Already in the works is audio support, recording, and ability to connect with users on non-iPhone handsets.
See it in action here.
What else is cool is the back story of how the app got approved… check related articles below for more on that.

God, Help Us…
I was just going through my morning tweets, when I followed a link to what I thought was going to be a humorous picture or some comedic added value, but all I found was… MORE WORDS!
Yes, I unfortunately by clicking that link I stumbled across a service called Twitlonger, “For when you talk too much for twitter”. This web service offers registered users a place to spew beyond the oh-so-restrictive 140 characters of Twitter… Just what we needed.
The site admits that they’re kind of going against everything Twitter is about (but they’re doing it anyway), and encourage you to still keep it under the 140 mark, but they are there just in case you need to really wax poetic on a topic.
I’m sure this will be used as directed (especially considering the post I was exposed to it on was about coffee cups).
Decisions, Decisions…
So, I’m in a bit of a conundrum… as most of you, I have a number of online social media accounts. Friendster,MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter… the list goes on. While it may seem the last thing I need to do is start with another one, the issue is that I have “multiple online personality disorder”. This makes consolidation risky, as I may alienate some of my followers with irrelevant content. Does this sound familiar?
The issue is when I started most of my online accounts, it was often for the multi-faceted purpose of 1) exploring new media outlets, and 2) to build my personal online brand around my dj moniker (dj.inc.) and my events/mix shows (@tempoatl) within the music community. Fast forward 10 or so years down the road and the situation I find myself in now is that my lifestyle has changed a good bit (getting too old for those raucous late-nights) and while I still maintain a LOT of the same interests and motivations around music and dj culture, I have picked up several new passions along the way.
For one, I’ve recently gotten engaged to a beautiful Ballerina and so we’ve launched a wedding blog over here at www.woffordchuhaywedding.com. And, while we don’t do as many dj gigs as we used to, Chris & I still have a successful monthly mix show on Proton Radio, and our website www.tempoatl.com still houses all of our downloads, pics, etc. Over the years, my love for food and wine has grown and I’d love to have a place to share recipes, pics and interact with other foodies, but I don’t think I will initially be posting enough content to warrant my own food blog. Additionally, as my role has grown with my day job, and technology evolves, so has my interest in marketing and business development strategies involving social media, which is apparent in a lot of my tweets (you can follow me on Twitter @djinc).
SO… how do I aggregate all of this information into some easy-to-find, easy-to-follow, and most of all (for me) easy-to-maintain platform. I think for now the short answer is, “I don’t”. I think for now I will still maintain these different properties, and keep a more strict eye towards policing the type of content I post on each to make sure it’s fresh and relevant for those who care and easy-to-ignore for those who don’t.
As for this blog, I think I will try to focus on social media, online strategy, and general ramblings / findings while I figure out how to incorporate a food blog on here as well and allow followers to choose if they want to subscribe to the social media marketeer “me”, or the culinary-wannabe “me”. For the music ramblings, free downloads, and event info… follow @TempoATL on Twitter and we’ll keep you posted with what’s hot in our world there.
Thanks for your patience & I’d love to hear more about how you other “multiple online personality disorder” folks manage your many web brands and properties.
